Melanic is an app that makes it easy for skincare companies to market directly to consumers of color, and in doing so, address specific skin care needs of this community. Most of the dermatological research done for skincare ingredients does not include people of color. People of color may respond differently to some of the ingredients found in skincare products. When reading ingredient lists on skincare products it is important that people of color understand what the ingredients are and how the ingredient might affect their skin type. By searching for ingredients within the Melanic app users will be able to determine if the product or ingredient meets their needs.

The Melanic app focuses on skin of color, identifying those ingredients that may be more beneficial, or better alternatives to ingredients that may cause hyperpigmentation, irritation or long term damage to skin of color. Melanic is also able to offer the client the ability to white label the app, replacing the Melanic brand with their own and customizing the app with their preferences.
